Imagine This

Imagine Lori, in fuchsia scrubs (she's learned why so many medical types wear scrubs - they're comfortable!), with matching toe nails, wheeling her own chair down the hallway en route to the outside gardens, being greeted by various staffers, all pleased to see her up and about. Imagine Lori, laughing at the thought of herself, back at CNN, tilting her chair backwards every 1/2 hour to relieve pressure from her rear end, and what it might look like to passers-by. Imagine Lori, determined to do whatever it takes to get well and to avoid future medical problems. Can you see it? Then, you've seen Lori today. Yes, there are still problems and concerns and future anxieties. (healing of final pressure sore and flap surgery, unknown cause of elevated potassium levels, chair adaptations, etc.) But, beyond all hope, it's there, the possibility of recovery. You've been a part of it. You're important to us. She reads every card and so appreciates your thoughts and generous gestures of friendship. It's not over yet. But we can visualize the possibility of relative normality again. Thanks for taking this ride with us.

Always,
the Sneed's

Just came in from Trinity's church service commemorating 1 year of recovery from Katrina and now even more hopeful news about Lori. All I can think of that fits the moment is "Great is Thy Faithfulness....morning by morning new mercies I see". We'll keep praying for Lori's healing and continued strength for all of her caregivers, especially Patti. I think Lori Sneed is "a force to be reckoned with" just as Katrina was!!

Love,
Sallie

Lori, before long you'll be popping wheelies!!! Watch out. They'll take your wheelchair away!!! It's the fuchsia nail polish; a power surge. This is great news. We love all of you.

Tears of joy in my eyes. What an inspiration you all are. However, "relative normality" may not be the correct term to be used in our family! Myra

Scrubs? I never got to wear scrubs. Obviously, I'm not Lori Sneed, but then again, it's evident from reading about you and seeing you that there is only one. Keep up the hard work and the joyful demeanor. You lighten the spirits of everyone. Take care.

Lori- I can just see you wheeling all over- but scrubs?? they never let ME wear scrubs, and fuschia!!!! Too cool! I'm so happy for you. That garden is a real lifesaver, isn't it? I used to love to get out there, even having my pscyh sessions under an umbrella. Once my sister and I blew bubbles there. If I lived closer I'd come and visit you. I think of you every day. Love- Deb

Imagine the inspiration that Lori, Patti and Shorty are to all of us. We have all suffered much in the face of Katrina, but such is nothing compared to Lori's courage and fight back, she, Patty and Shorty are an inspiration to all of us. You are all important to all of us. We are so happy and appreciate the opportunity you gave us to share a little in her recovery on this blog.

Hey, wonderful news.... we think of you every day.... Just had the fun of seeing the aunties, Lori and Louise at our cottage in Eagle River. They are quite the pair! We have somewhat of an unususal house (30x30x30 foot cube with three flights of stairs) so we visited on the patio. After awhile they said, when do we get to see your house? They made all the flights of stairs, Lori with her cane. I promised to send photos of the house so they can show everyone. They were off to the cousins reuinion the next day but it gave us a chance to catch up on all the news of the younger cousins (that would be me!) Our thoughts remain with you and I know you'll recover not only because of your determination... but because of the strong stubborn German genes!

Such wonderful news! Made me smile to picture you on the go. I now can see the staff chasing you around. Scrubs are great aren't they-much better than those revealing gowns. You make sure to stock up on them. Love to all the Sneeds!
