Surgery Went Well

Doctors removed the abscess successfully this morning and were very pleased with the results. Originally, we thought Lori would need to spend 24 hours in the ICU, but doctors felt she could be placed in the intermediate ICU, which is great news. She doesn't feel so great right now, but we are all relieved.

We think Lori will remain in the hospital for another 3 to 5 days.

thank you again for all of your thoughts and prayers.

It's not Rocket Science, but it is Brain Surgery

For those of you who don't know, Lori is back in the hospital. After complaining of headaches for several weeks, she suffered a seizure Sunday night, May 25. Fortunately, one of her attendants, Chastity, was with her and called 911 immediately. Paramedics responded within minutes, and rushed her to Northside Hospital, where some of the staff remembered her from her previous residency 2 years ago. She had another seizure in the ER, but was stabilized and placed in ICU for 24 hours, eventually being kept in an intermediate ICU.

After several tests, doctors determined Lori has an abscess in the same occipital lobe of the brain where she suffered her stroke 2 years ago -- an infected region about the size of a 50 cent piece. Doctors plan to operate on Lori tomorrow morning, Friday, at 7:30 a.m. to remove and drain the abcess.
Tests have determined no existence of a tumor or aneurysm.

Shorty, Patti, and Johnny have been in Atlanta with LORI, who has been in good spirits. We are comforted by her grace and courage throughout all of this.

Thank you for all of your love and support.
